We are heading home…
Day 23:
We have turned the corner and are heading back east beginning with Los Angeles, California and to see my son Bowen. Moms and Dad…you know what this feels like!! One of the best days of my trip just being together with two of my children. We did call Cory, my youngest while traveling around LA. One of my thoughts as I sat in the backseat listening to the conversation they were having I was…like wow, they are grown up! Great feeling:)

We began the day by meeting Bowen in Santa Monica at “The Bungalows” for a yummy breakfast by a relaxing waterfall. Wonderful way to start our visit getting caught up!

Then off to explore a bit of Santa Monica…and LA!
Half way through our trip!!! WILL WE MAKE IT???
Victoria and I are a bit exhausted but being driven around today was awesome! We didn’t have to think about where or what we were doing.

We checked into our hotel downtown and headed of the “Angels Flight” (you may recognize it from the movie LA LA Land after all we are in LA!! Unfortunately it was under repair. Then we walked down the stairs, now I understand why this train on the hill is here. We stopped at the “Last Book Store” and roamed around, interesting decor but…I like the atmosphere at Powell books in Portland, Oregon better, best thing in Portland. The sun came out and it became a bit hot so we decided to find smoothies at the District market, a place for foodies! However lines were long and decided to leave hoping to catch our 90 minute free parking …nope! Oh well…$5.00 for parking not too bad. Next stop McConnells Ice Cream and then to the movies to see “Toy Story 4” since we are in LA, the movie capital of the world! I also wanted to see one of the movie theaters Bowen talks about. The manager was dressed in a snappy blue suit and greeting his guests. a wonderful atmosphere from the beginning! We love DISNEY and we began with Toy Story I! A very fun theatre, popcorn had refills and people even clapped at the end of the movie! When was the last time you went to the movies and people clapped??
Now since we are in movie/TV town a must stop at “The Griffin” for a photo opp., The Griffin is the bar in “New Girl” for those of you who dont watch TV like we do:)
Now for dinner! In and Out of course!!!  A tradition when I come to LA, Victoria enjoyed a burger too…without the burger. Bowen picked the In and Out  in Glendale and more free parking because it is next to a shopping mall. This shopping all was like a movie experience!
I took time to stop and smell the roses even if Victoria was 10 paces in front of me:)
Heading back to the hotel we stopped at Echo Park, the swan boats where closed for tonight but we still took a lovely walk. There was an ice cream truck and Bowen got very excited when he heard the musical tune. Just like when he was little, warms my heart. Amazing memory, yep Im tearing up writing this…sorry Victoria. We did not stop for ice cream because we had already had it and a milk shake today. So much for the PBJ here in LA!

We got to spend another day in LA with Bowen. Yay!! We think travel and seeing new things is great but I have to say…it is the people we meet along the way, I think makes this trip!!
We started with breakfast at Sqirl, yum! Then Bowen had a surprise stop at a train museum. We took time and meandered through the old trains enjoying the children and their smiles. Brining back many memories!!!

Then off to another favorite spot of Bowen’s, The Grove and a ride on a train! A little shopping and yummy cupcakes:)
Time to say good bye…couldn’t “put my tears back in” I said goodbye and held my tears long enough to get in the car. Always hard to say goodbye when your child lives on the other side of the country.
Thankfully only an hour drive today to see my high school friend, Sharie and her husband Todd. Both so sweet to welcome us with a home cooked meal and a very comfortable bed! A wonderful stop to rejuvenate before we hitting the road. They come with a petting zoo and a bird sanctuary!
