It is Monday blog day coming at you a little late due to lack of internet access.
Day 8:
Destination Yellowstone!
No major stops at tourist destinations just amazing vistas to capture on our 8 + hour drive through Wyoming. It was a drive not to be missed it truly made me feel small in this amazing world of ours even bringing me to tears at one point. Ok…yes a lot of tears on this trip but this experience is overwhelming at times. Victoria wants me to make it perfectly clear I am the only one in tears.
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words…how much is a video worth?
The driving was a bit of a challenge but Victoria is a wonderful driver and did an amazing job keeping us safe!
In less than 24 hours we went from 90’ weather to 25’ weather and snow!!

Setting up the tent actually went smoothly except we got a bit of dirt stuck in a pole and needed to clean it out to attach. Other than that it was kind of fun. It wasn’t too cold and the smell of winter and fresh air was pleasant. After all, we are hardy New England women we can handle a little cold!

Victoria took the lead and let me stay in the warm car. She is the best travel partner!!!!

Now…as night falls…a completely different story…you are not moving and the cold air sets in and you try to sleep. The bathroom thankfully is close but I still have to put on shoes in the dark so as not to wake Victoria or get the tent dirty…interesting but I did it! I will admit I hung out in the bathroom for a bit under the heater:)
I have figured several ways to prevent the cold from permeating my body
Tucking socks into your pants
Hand warmers in your socks
Hand warmers in your shirt pocket
Hand warmers in your hat rim (figured this one out at 2:00 AM after my first trip to the bathroom)
HAND WARMERS are key!!
Side note as I type this blog sitting in a warming car bc I couldn’t handle the cold tent anymore I burned my mouth on my hot chocolate, I made with my electric water pot I plugged in the bathroom outlet. Omg, now I need ice! It is 7:22 and Victoria is still asleep obviously her sleeping bag was warmer than mine!
I am realizing how incredibly ridiculous this sounds as I sit on my computer in the car in a campsite covered with SNOW! Did you get the SNOW part??
I have always wanted to come to Yellowstone and I am truly thrilled to be camping…really it is an experience I did not want to miss. I’ll be warm in a few days…or in even colder conditions?

Day 9:
GO BRUINS!!!!
Priorities! As we made our way around the park today we discovered NO WIFI and NOT A SINGLE TV! What??? We had to revamp our plans to include wifi or TV access which means leaving the park. We calculated driving distance after the game if we went to the nearest town would be at least an hour an a half on VERY DARK roads with possible animals crossing our path back to our campsite. We decided to pack up our campsite and find accommodations in town. Since we were only going to basically sleep in the hotel we, well I decided to go with a less expensive alternative a MOTEL…Victoria had never slept in a motel where you park your car outside your room and can see it outside the window and practically able to touch it. I will admit it was a little sketchy. The door did not have a second lock, not sure the first one was secure and the window did not lock. Did I mention we were on the ground floor parked next to our car? No AC or ventilation many night noises and I was ready to leave at 6:00 AM.
Camping I will do again the sketchy but clean (I have to mention) motel is a one-time thing. Victoria is very relieved. Notice our bed linen choices…

Onto Idaho and Sawtooth National forest with a stay in a luxury hotel !!!
